Range description

Extremely versatile and a benchmark product in fire safety

Homogeneous panel, made fire retardant in the mass during its manufacturing process by treatment of the wood fibers according to a dry process with the addition of resins and specific salts. Machining, routing and perforation do not affect its M1 classification.

The Medium® Fire Retardant panel has a dark chocolate color.
This extremely versatile panel has a high density surface and core, and is suitable for use in all premises having to answer the most severe fire safety requirements.

Made of a hardwood-based, short and homogeneous, wood fiber, it is characterized by:

  • a high core machinability
  • a maximization of the assembly qualities
  • a smooth and dense surface, fine texture, low porosity

Medium® Fire Retardant V313 faces are particularly dense and offer a high quality surface for lacquering. Medium panel edges are low-absorbing and easy for finishing.

Fields of application
Class 1 panel – Non-structural use in dry environments

Applications

  • Premises open to the public, interior fittings in shipbuilding, transport vehicles, catering, hotels, …
  • Layout and decoration, furniture
  • Interior finishing elements (baseboards, moldings…)
  • Machined and molded furniture fronts
  • Machined and turned parts
  • Elements for fire doors
  • Stands, wall cladding
  • Finishes

Reminder: Medium® Fire Retardant can only be used in dry environments (service class 1) and in biological risk class 1 according to EN622-5 table 3.

Store away from water.

For storage and during installation and use, Medium® Fire Retardant must be properly protected from direct contact with water. It needs to be stacked flat and adequately joisted with appropriate spacing according to the thickness to avoid creeping.

An essential step for a great finish.

Medium® Fire Retardant is compatible with most of the existing finishing and bonding products on the market. Its flame retardant properties make the faces and fibers of the panel slightly less adherent.

Medium® Fire Retardant comes sanded to a 120-grit smoothness; slight dusting may be required before applying a light-weight filler. The edges will receive a penetrating pore filler insulation to block fibers and absorption.
Water-based coatings are not recommended. Solvent-based coatings applied with a spray gun are preferred.

Medium® Fire Retardant eliminates the need for any filling/coating preparation: you apply a base coat (primer or undercoat) and then, after lightly sanding, paint both faces (glycerophthalic or acrylic paint).
Do not use stain on Medium® Fire Retardant.

Screwing Medium® Fire Retardant (with wood or particle board type screws) offers the best pull-out resistance. However, it is possible to nail or staple the panels faces in addition to gluing.

With Medium® Fire Retardant, use urea formaldehyde, polychloroprene and polyurethane glues.
When assembling Medium® Fire Retardant with another material, the adhesive should be selected according to the surface characteristics of both components.

When the panels are installed over large surfaces (wall cladding, floors, ceilings), provide larger expansion joints between the panels than for a regular panel (5 mm instead of 2 to 3 mm).
